Diabetes Cause

It seems as if every time you turn around these days another celebrity is promoting another cause, using their fame and good will to raise money and awareness to achieve something.  One campaign that everyone should be adopting is the preventing Type 2 diabetes cause.  It’s surprising how many people aren’t aware that America is currently experiencing and epidemic of Type 2 diabetes.  In 2007, the New York Times ran a huge multi-page story on this hidden epidemic.  In it, they talked about the fact that more and more kids are coming down with this killer disease, which used to affect only older adults.  And doctors told the paper that they fear that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

The really tragic thing about this is that it’s completely unnecessary.  Unlike car wrecks, or diseases like Lou Gehrig’s or muscular dystrophy, Type 2 diabetes is almost entirely preventable.  That’s why we need more people to take up the preventing diabetes cause and get the word out, so that thousands of people can be spared from having to face this scourge.  It’s a terrible disease, which can lead to blindness, kidney failure, amputation, and early death.

But it doesn’t have to.  If everyone reading this would take up the preventing diabetes cause, and start spreading the word, and encouraging others to do the same, we could reverse this killer trend.  Because preventing Type 2 diabetes isn’t difficult.  It’s a disease that results from our unhealthy lifestyles.  If we would all start eating fewer calories, and eating better food, and exercising, the number of new Type 2 diabetes would start falling rapidly.  You may not be able to convince others, but you can take up the preventing diabetes cause for yourself and your family.  Cut out almost all fast food.  Eat a lot more raw fruits and vegetables, and a lot less meat, sweets, and white flour.  Start exercising.  And most of, cut way back on soda pop.  That’s all there is to it.  You may not be able to save the world, but you can certainly make sure you and your family aren’t at risk for this horrific disease.
